The 3 stars will be a blog written after each and every event of the Marblelympics. The three stars won’t always go to who won, but rather it will go to the teams that have impressed me the most in that event.
While many people don’t enjoy the day break in between event 9A and 9B, I personally love break time given to the marbles. We all know that curling is not the most physically difficult sport; however, there is great mental challenge that comes along with it. Many of the fans may not have noticed that there was a tremendous amount of planning time in between each of the throws. The videos had this part edited as this aspect was extremely mundane. Nonetheless, the event left me on the edge the whole time; therefore, I cannot complain about 20 minutes worth of Marblelympics. The longer the event, the better.
1 Star - O’rangers
Many of you at home may be scratching your heads at this pick. Yes, they came in 4th which is good, yet they lost twice in a row to end the event finishing one away from the podium. Although it might have felt like a loss, the O’rangers were able to move up in the overall standings into 7th. With this move they are securing their hopes of winning the Citrus Rivalry. It’s been a down year for all the citrus teams, but the O’rangers still dominate at this point. O’rangers also are awarded my one star for their ability to compete through this whole event. Every time they were down, they were able to muster up a comeback until they finally fell due to fatigue. An overall solid season for the O’rangers and a Citrus Rivalry Victory earned them 1 star.
2 Stars - Team Momary
Team Momary has been on this list a lot recently. Many of you at home may dispute that Team Momary should receive three stars. I would be open to that, but the loss they took in the finals prohibits them from getting 3 stars. Team Momary has been slowly improving all year and could see themselves get a top half finish. This would be a far cry from last place. Team Momary was in last for a while, but now they seem to have gained new life with new members. Back to the actual event. Team Momary was great throughout the entire event. Then they got into the finals. It was a massacre, a bloodbath, a slaughtering, a blowout, and an absolute beatdown. They got beat 10 - 1 (or something like that) and Team Momary should not show their faces for a while after that. Since they had this beatdown coupled with a great performance throughout the rest of the event, they recieve my 2 stars.
3 Stars - Oceanics
The end of the Marblelympics is near and that means one thing, and one thing only: Medal Hunting. Yes, folks it IS that time of year again. Teams like the Oceanics and many others have failed in their chance to win it all in the past, but these teams do have a shot now. Getting a medal now and being able to win it all means a lot for every single fan base. The Oceanics jumped 5 spots from 6 to 1 which is nothing too major early in the season. As the season progresses, many teams don’t move more than 2 slots at a time due to the nature of the scoring. For the Oceanics to be able to move up that much is nothing short of a miracle. I think the Oceanics may have God on their side. I just don’t know how else that could or would happen. The crunch time for the Oceanics is now, and with three events to go, it is the Oceanics Marblelympic’s to lose. They also broke triple digits which is extremely impressive as that is a rare sighting until the end of the Marblelympics. 10 points now separate the top 5 teams. I can’t wait for what what will happen next! Will the Oceanics Choke? Will the hometown Snowballs make an epic comeback? (Also, did you see the championship match with the Oceanics? That was dominance at its finest!)
