The 3 stars will be a blog written after each and every event of the Marblelympics. The three stars won’t always go to who won, but rather it will go to the teams that have impressed me the most in that event.
This will be a quick blog. A great event. I personally really enjoyed the formatting. It was enthralling to know that time didn’t count. All that counted was who crossed the line first. I think more events should have this head to head tournament style bracket. In addition, it also places further emphasis on how well each team has conditioned during the offseason. There were also chills down my spine after hearing the cheers of the Snowballs fans. That was one of the greatest moments in sports.
1 Star - Team Momary
This was the second event in which Team Momary competed, and I think they fared well. Chemistry issues are still being worked out, but a top 8 finish was good for them. I think with some more practice they could make a run for a spot on the medal stand at one of these events. It will be interesting to see this team dynamic playout as the events continue. I feel like while only temporary, this team could make a comeback soon as it is a combo of 2 teams with some older members who might retire. More to come on that.
2 Stars - Minty Maniacs
The Maniacs are not good, but they are getting better. I think this slew of good finishes will help them with their confidence. This event will provide some good film for them to watch during the offseason. Hopefully they will be able to feed off of this success and carry it on to the next event. I don’t expect any big moves from the Maniacs, but if they stay consistent, they could make a run for the bronze.
3 Stars - Snowballs
The Snowballs were in the Grand Marblelympic stadium and the fans were roaring. The crowd was electric and this helped push them through. I think knowing this track so well helped the Snowballs. They showed that the home field advantage is real as the crowd led them to victory. At a neutral site competition, the Snowballs probably would not have been able to pull it off. However, these were special circumstances. The Snowballs were able to push through all four rounds and handle the fatigue with ease. After the event ended, Snowy was overheard saying “This one is for you guys!” while holding up the gold medal to the fans. The OoooOOOOoOOs of the O’rangers were drowned out. They were replaced with SnOOoOoOoooOoooOows coming from the crowd. The Snowballs did well in this event and it wouldn’t shock me if they used this momentum to propel them forward for a push towards gold.
