The 3 stars will be a blog written after each and every event of the Marblelympics. The three stars won’t always go to who won, but rather it will go to the teams that have impressed me the most in that event.
When I heard about the biathlon, I was a bit skeptical at first. I wondered how the shooting and the actually course would all work out. After watching that event, I think the way it was run was quite good. Integrating all the members of the team was an important part of this event, and I believe the point scoring worked out well for the shooting portion.
1 Star - Thunderbolts
The Thunderbolts have been relatively consistent throughout this entire year. While they have not been the most exciting, they constantly have pretty good finishes. This event right here is another good example of that. If you still don’t have a team to cheer for in this years Marblelympics, may I suggest the Thunderbolts? They aren’t very high profile and their fans are fairly subdued. That being said, I respect the “nose to the grindstone” attitude that they carry with them. They have 2 bronze and 1 gold, so they aren’t in it for the flashy medals. If they were a city, they would probably be somewhere like Pittsburgh(gritty). Even though the Thunderbolts are not one of my teams, I have a lot of respect for them and their fan base. For being a good group of marbles and for moving up in the standing, they earned my 1 star.
2 Stars - Crazy Cat’s Eyes
CCE finally got what they came for. After a disappointing qualifying where they barely eked by,they had a disappointing first few events, CCE has finally gotten gold. CCE is a team that stands out as they are all different from one another, but they were able to put these differences apart today and capture a gold. At this point in the season, CCE is all but out of it and have slim odds to make the medal stand, so this consolation prize will mean a lot to their fans. Luckily CCE has been doing well as of late and they were able to separate themselves from the bottom tier. With only 2 events to go, CCE looks like they could finish strong and find themselves in the top half of the pack. This would be a good finish to a subpar. PS They killed that Marblelympics record which is extremely impressive. I did not see that happening in this event.
3 Stars - O’rangers
If you don’t already know, in golf there is a day called “Moving Day”. This is the 3rd day of the tournament where golfers try to put themselves in good position for the 4th and final day. Events 9 and 10 (and most likely 11) have been moving day for the Marblelympics. Last week it was the Oceanics who moved 5 spots and received my 3 stars. This week the O’rangers moved 5 spots from 7th place to 2nd place. It hasn’t been a great year for any team, and the O’rangers are an example of that. Even though they were in 7th the previous week, they were still yet to get a medal. At the halfway point, they were in 9th place. It has been a slow year so far, but the O’rangers are now peaking when it counts. In addition, there ability to be in 2nd place with only 1 medal shows you how good they are. It took a come from behind win this summer for them, and now it might be happening again. In all honesty though, I think we could easily see the O’rangers fall out a podium position as they could be lackadaisical after their win. However, they should celebrate and enjoy the moment as they might be Back-to-Back Champions for the first time in Marblelympic history.
