In this blog I only address the 3 Way Rivalries, but I will address the head to head rivalries in a subsequent blog.
The Marblelympics are two thirds of the way through, and it seems that many notable rivalries have been created this year. I think a lot of these rivalries will continue for years to come, but I’m sure some new ones will develop as well. The rivalries listed are just the ones that come to mind, yet there are probably many more that I won’t touch on in this blog. If you have some important rivalries that you think I left out, tell me in the comment section.
O’rangers vs Limers vs Mellow Yellow - Citrus Rivalry
Let’s face it folks, there aren’t many great or even good 3 team rivalries in sports. However, the Marblelympics allows for the unique opportunity for 3 team rivalries to occur. Some of you out there may be wondering, “How is Mellow Yellow part of the citrus rivalry?” While not technically a fruit or citrus, I have always considered Mellow Yellow to be based on the looks of a lemon. This rivalry is one in which all these teams seem to have good respect for each other and each other’s accomplishments. This year sadly, all of these teams have seemed to fall by the wayside as younger teams have moved in. Luckily, fans of all three teams can take joy in still competing to be the champions of the Citrus Rivalry. Even if the O’rangers finish in 8th (where they are ranked as of the writing of this blog), they could still take immense pride in being the winners of the Citrus Rivalry.
Raspberry Racers vs Savage Speeders vs Pinkies - Rivalry of Red
Many of the people at home may not have heard of this rivalry, but it’s one of the more subdued rivalries of the Marblelympics. The Raspberry Racers are a new team, so this is the first year of the rivalry. This rivalry has a dynamic as there are two older teams, and a team of young marbles trying to prove their worth. All of these teams have fared somewhat well this year, so the rivalry is quite heated. While the Raspberry Racers may not garner much respect from the Speeders and Pinkies right now, the head to head events in the future may alter that view. I expect all these teams to have their ups and downs, and I believe that in any given year, any given team in this group could be seen on the podium.
Team Momary vs Crazy Cat’s Eyes vs Ball of Chaos - Rivalry of Unity (Mismatch Rivalry)
While the Rivalry of Unity may be an oxymoron, all of these teams show that our differences are our greatest strength. This is an odd year with all that has happened to Team Momo. Luckily, this has created the three way Mismatch Rivalry. All of these teams seem to have all the colors, yet the colors are displayed in different ways. For Crazy Cat’s Eyes, each marble is clear with a different color on the inside. For the Balls of Chaos, each ball has every single color in it. Then Team Momary is the true mismatch as they have red, yellow, and green marbles from two different teams. The odd dynamic regarding all these teams is that they aren’t one color. These teams show us that we all have greatness within us, regardless of marble color. In addition, all these teams look scrappy because they all just look like a group of random marbles. These teams of so called “random marbles” show us that #TeamworkmakestheDreamwork. This year BoC is dominating the rivalry and can attain gold if they put up a few good runs. The chase for second in this rivalry is close, so at least there is something to look forward to for the other teams.
What other 3 way rivalries do you think are in this year’s Marblelympics?
